Amazon’s new range of Fire TVs are TV screens with Amazon’s operating system built in – no need to plug in an external streaming device.

Amazon Fire TV Omni: Specs and Features

Let us start with the flagship Omni QLED series as this is the most interesting model launched in the UK.

The Omni QLED is notable for a feature that Amazon calls the “Fire TV Ambient Experience.” This promises to transform the TV screen from a blank screen when in standby mode into a display for artwork, personal photos, music and customizable Alexa widgets.

It’s similar to Samsung’s popular Frame range of TVs.

The Omni QLED series uses its built-in occupancy sensors to detect when a person enters the room and transitions into the ambient experience.

In terms of specifications, the Omni QLED has a 4K Quantum Dot Display and advanced HDR thanks to Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+.

The Omni QLED also features hands-free Alexa just like the Echo or Echo Dot. This makes it easy for you to find, launch and control your content or check the weather, sports and more.

The Fire TV 4 Series lineup combines 4K UHD resolution with HDR10 and HLG for cinematic picture quality.

The Series 4 does not include the ambient experience, and Alexa is accessed via voice remote control (rather than being hands-free).

Fire TV 2-Series 32″ has 720p HD resolution, while Fire TV 2-Series 40″ has 1080p Full HD resolution.

Despite being the cheapest models, both Series 2 models include support for HDR 10, HLG and Dolby Digital Audio. You also get Alexa Voice Remote.
