🛍️ Reasons to buy: The print, the ruffles, the tie detail and the 100% organic cotton fabric.
✋ Reasons to avoid: As beautiful as the fabric and ruffles are, they do require ironing. And it comes quite large.

I’m a sucker for anything that makes a statement, so as soon as I saw this dress That printed from postcard in Nobody’s Child shop on Carnaby Street in London last summer, I had to have it.
It was out of stock in my size in store (as always with very popular pieces, there were only tiny sizes left), but I wanted it so badly that I immediately ordered it online as soon as I left the store while amidst the hustle and bustle of shoppers on Carnaby Street.
And to say that the Cassidy Postcard Print Midi Dress £59, is one of my best summer dress buys is an understatement. She has more than earned her place in my wardrobe, and more. I’ve worn it on vacation, to work, to brunch with friends, and dressed it up to dance the night away at a friend’s wedding.
In fact, I’ve never worn it without someone complimenting me on how adorable it is. I even had a super chic French woman walk up to me at the tiny Tours Loire Valley airport to tell me how fabulous my dress was.
So for the ego boost alone, it’s worth way more than I paid for it…
🛍️ Reasons to buy
The retro postcard print (hand painted by the Nobody’s Child design team) was the biggest selling point for me. It may have had something to do with my desperate desire to travel after being cooped up for so long during the pandemic years.
(FYI: Postcard prints first made their mark on fashion after WWII, when people started traveling again — go figure).
It’s a vacancy in a suit, basically.
I also love the cut and design of the postcard-print Cassidy midi dress: the ruffles around the shoulder and neckline, and the way it tapers delicately at the waist and flares out with a ruffle at the hem as well.
Then there is also an unexpected “back party”. Designed with a deep square cut-out at the back, which isn’t too low so you can still wear a bra, it also has a nice tie detail to keep it from slipping off your shoulders.
It’s made from 100% organic cotton, which is not only the ideal fabric to wear during humid climates, but also uses 91% less water than regular cotton and produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
And, if you love the postcard print, you can get it in a mini version with puffed sleeves, as well as a midi look with smocks and shoulder pads.

Even the design of the dress has the seal of approval from one of our favorite fashionable women. As part of the bestselling Nobody’s Child x Happy Place Fearne Cotton collaboration, it also comes in retro seed packaging printed in a different colourway.
✋ Reasons to avoid
While it washes well at 30 degrees, for most people, ironing will be the problem. The only advice I have is to put it on a hanger when wet and do your best to smooth out as many creases as you can before it dries.
This will definitely reduce the time you need to iron.
And it’s big enough – I’m between a 10 and a 12 so I got a size 10 which is still a little baggy around the waist. Sometimes I add a thin silver belt if I want to look a little “tighter”.
💰 The best deal we have found
It’s exclusive to Nobody’s Child, so you can only get it from there. However, you can get 15% off if you shop online for the first time and sign up for brand emails.
If you really want to buy it for less, it’s worth keeping an eye out for resale sites like Vinted and Ebay.
